While eating plant-based is easier than ever, many vegan-friendly apps can make it even more convenient! From finding animal-free restaurants to getting nutrition information and recipes, the options are nearly endless. Need a little help getting started?
Here are 11 vegan-friendly apps every plant-based eater needs on their phone:
Happy Cow
Happy Cow is a classic! This app helps you find nearby veg-friendly restaurants and allows you to sort by vegan, vegetarian, and âoptions.â You can also use its filters to find places that take reservations, have outdoor seating, offer Wi-Fi, and more. Plus, reading reviews from other plant-based eaters is really helpful.
CowculatorâFriends, Not Food
This adorably named app helps you determine the positive impact your plant-based eating has on the environment. You can calculate the water, forested land, and animals spared through your food choices.
Dr. Gregerâs Daily Dozen
This free app is the companion to Dr. Gregerâs groundbreaking book How Not to Die. It lists the healthiest foods and how many servings we should try to eat each day! Itâs worth noting that all proceeds from Dr. Gregerâs books, DVDs, and speaking engagements are donated to charity.
Vegan Amino
The Vegan Amino app connects vegans with a supportive community of fellow plant-based eaters. Not only can you chat with other vegans, but there are plenty of recipes, advice, and bits of inspiration. Make sure to share your own recipes and tips!
abillion
This vegan review app supports the plant-based community and offers hundreds of thousands of reviews on restaurants, food, and more. Even better? The company donates a dollar to âconservation, education, and diet change initiativesâ every time you choose a vegan option from one of its partners. You can even select Mercy For Animals as the beneficiary!
21-Day Vegan Kickstart
Designed by nutrition experts with the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, this app offers meal plans, recipes, grocery lists, daily videos, nutrition tips, cooking demonstrations, and more.
Forks Over Knives
If youâre looking for hundreds of plant-based recipes designed by a team of chefs, youâve come to the right place! The Forks Over Knives app offers simple recipes and options to add notes and mark your favorite dishes. It also has built-in shopping lists sorted by grocery store aisle.
Yelp
Yelp is my personal go-to for finding nearby vegan-friendly restaurants. All you need to do is add your location and search âvegan foodâ! I like that most of the restaurants have pictures of their menus, so you can scan for plant-based options or possible alterations.
Food Monster
One Green Planetâs Food Monster app boasts free and instant access to over 20,000 vegan recipes. You can choose from categories like dairy-free cheese and veggie burgers, as well as share tips, ask questions, and join the community of âfood monsters.â
Reddit is an app that allows users to share news, discuss topics, and create communities. While not specifically geared toward vegans, it does have a powerful vegan subreddit (a community on the app) where plant-based eaters can come together, discuss vegan-related topics, and share information.
22 Days Nutrition Meal Planner
The 22 Days Nutrition Meal Planner is available on any mobile device through a web-based app, meaning it works like an app without the need to download it from the app store. The program was created by author and exercise physiologist Marco Borges, BeyoncĂ©, and Jay-Z to give everyone âaccess to information about a plant-based lifestyle.â
