St. Louis â The St. Louis Cardinals arenât the only ones who will be flying around Busch Stadium on Thursday. As the Budweiser Clydesdales make an Opening Day appearance on the ground, PETAâs banner shaming Budweiser for mutilating the horsesâ tailbones will soar overhead. As recently revealed in a damning PETA video exposĂ©, the company severs horsesâ tailbones by using a scalpel or a tight band that stops the blood supply to the tail, causing it to die and fall offâall so the Clydesdales will look a certain way when hitched to a beer wagon.
When: Thursday, March 30, 12:30â3:30 p.m.
Where: Busch Stadium, 700 Clark Ave. (at the intersection with S. Broadway), St. Louis
âHorses need their tailbones, and cutting them off causes immense pain, affects their balance, and removes their first line of defense against biting and disease-spreading insects,â says PETA Senior Vice President Kathy Guillermo. âPETA is urging everyone to boycott Budweiser until the King of Tears stops disfiguring Clydesdales.â
PETAâwhose motto reads, in part, that âanimals are not ours to use for entertainmentââopposes speciesism, a human-supremacist worldview.
