Discount retailer ALDI announced its goal to increase its vegan products to 1,000 product varieties in March of this year.
“Our goal is to offer our customers 1,000 plant-based product varieties spread across the year in our standard, seasonal and promotional ranges by the end of 2024.
To achieve this goal, we are focusing not only on reducing the small quantities of animal-based ingredients in our products but also on consistently expanding our vegan range,” commented ALDI at the time.
Today, the company declares that it has made significant progress toward this objective and already provides over 950 product varieties, ranging from vegan cosmetics to plant-based substitutes.
The company sells a wide variety of intriguing plant-based products under the ALDI own-brands “Mein Veggie Tag” and “GUT Bio,” among them a vegan smoked salmon, The Wonder Chunks from Mein Veggie Tag, and the well-liked GUT bio oat drink. ALDI SÜD also discloses that it will introduce a vegan steak product this year for the first time during the summer.
“At ALDI SÜD, we also want to make vegan products and thus a more sustainable and conscious diet that has a positive impact on people and the environment affordable for everyone. The expansion of our vegan range is thus an important sign of the ALDI SÜD dietary change we introduced this spring,” says Dr. Julia Adou, Director of Corporate Responsibility at ALDI SÜD.
