Las Vegas – After a recent PETA Asia investigation into an Indonesian slaughterhouse that supplies Gucci revealed that workers bashed lizards in the head with machetes and hacked at their necks up to 14 times before they were decapitated, a “scaly” PETA supporter with “blood” dripping from her neck will thrash around on the sidewalk outside the company’s Las Vegas flagship store on Tuesday.

When:    Tuesday, December 21, 12 noon

Where:    The Shops at Crystals, at the intersection of W. Aria Place and S. Las Vegas Boulevard, Las Vegas

“Lizards can remain conscious and able to feel pain for over 30 minutes after their heads are hacked off,” says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. “PETA is calling on Gucci to help stop these slow, agonizing deaths by joining Chanel, Jean Paul Gaultier, and other designers in banning exotic-skin sales.”

PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to wear”—opposes speciesism, a human-supremacist worldview.
