Elizabeth’s Counter—a vegetarian and vegan-friendly donut and coffee shop in Alexandria, Virginia—is getting a vegan makeover this October. Beginning October 6, they’ll be debuting a fully vegan cafe menu of burgers, bowls, sandwiches, and salads.
Elizabeth’s Counter’s Vegan Scratch Kitchen
The fully vegan cafe menu is being spearheaded by Executive Chef Robert Micciulla, whose past experience includes cooking at Michelin star restaurant The Oxford Kitchen in the UK. He’ll be drawing from that experience abroad in crafting the vegan menu at Elizabeth’s Counter.
The menu will include bistro-style burgers, fried chicken sandwiches, root veggie salads, breakfast burritos, and even two varieties of vegan quiche! Elizabeth’s Counter is a scratch kitchen, so all of the sauces, marinades, and vegan meats will be made in-house daily. They will also have a selection of pre-packaged salads and bowls available for purchase in their grab-and-go grocery section alongside a wide variety of plant-based products from brands such as Follow Your Heart, Morningstar, and JUST Egg.
Elizabeth’s Counter’s Other Vegan Offerings
As well as the cafe menu, Elizabeth’s Counter will still continue to offer their house-made vegan donuts, eclairs, and cinnamon rolls on a daily basis. They offer a selection of vegan donuts made fresh daily, including flavors such as apple cider, caramel macchiato, mango, and peaches & cream. Half-dozen and full dozen mix-and-match boxes are also available at a discount.
While all of their cafe drinks will be made with oat milk by default, the store will continue to offer whole milk to those customers that request it. Aside from that, the entire cafe is vegan. The food menu will be available from 10:30am-4:30pm daily, while drinks and baked goods will be available all day. Elizabeth’s Counter is located at 804 North Henry Street, Alexandria, VA 22314, and store hours are 7am-5pm Wednesday through Monday.
