International fast-food giant Burger King is opening a 100 percent vegetarian restaurant in a first for the company. The chain debuts its Vurger King outlet in the Spanish capital of Madrid this month.

Announcing the news on Twitter this week, Burger King Spain changed its profile picture to a new logo, titled Vurger King. And initially, users reacted by reveling in what they assumed was a spelling mistake.
But what followed was an invitation to customers to head down to the chain’s Paseo del Prado outlet for an exclusively meatless menu.
It’s available for one month only, the company confirmed, ‘with only vegetable products’.
Speaking to Entrepreneur Europe, Spain, and Portugal’s general manager of restaurant brands Borja Hernández de Alba explained: “We want to reach both people who base their diet on vegetable products and those who do eat meat but want to reduce their consumption.”
Among the items on offer is the Plant-Based Whopper Burger, alongside meatless nuggets and the Long Vegetal, inspired by the Long Chicken.
The vegetarian takeover follows a host of other pop-ups from the chain, including one in Cologne, Germany, earlier this year.
*While all meat served at the pop-up is vegan, some items may contain dairy cheese or mayonnaise.
