Moobyâs is now a reality! From the silver screen, it has leaped from a Los Angeles pop-up restaurant to your own kitchen.
Silent Bob (Kevin Smith) is seen posing in character showing off the vegan Moobyâs creations that look absolutely delicious.

While the Los Angeles pop-up restaurant had the famous cow tipper (3 stacked beyond burgers although in the movies it was many more) it also had the Moobyâs âHater Totzâ and lasagna sandwiches.
The fictitious Moobyâs restaurant from the view askew universe had its first appearance in Smithâs film âDogmaâ that premiered in 1999 and starred Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, George Carlin, Janeane Garofolo, Chris Rock, Jason Lee, Salma Hayek, Alanis Morissette, Jason Mewes and Smith himself as the eponymous Silent Bob.
Moobyâs has also appeared in âClerks IIâ, âJay and Silent Bob Strike Backâ (which also stars Mark Hamill), and the newest movie set in Director Kevin Smithâs universe; âJay and Silent Bob Rebootâ.
The Moobyâs pop-up was launched for online delivery back in April during the peak of the CV crisis and the demand was still so off the charts that they managed to crash the Postmates delivery app not once but twice!
On the first day, the Moobyâs pop-up crew were slammed with over 3,000 orders making it so the could only fill a small fraction of those orders.

They quickly got up to speed fulfilling the avalanche of orders and raising large amounts of money for charity while doing so.
The pop-ups initial launch donated proceeds to âNo Us Without Youâ whoâs mission is to feed undocumented workers in hospitality during the CV crisis.
After that, the first week of proceeds were given to âClean Up South Centralâ which in the aftermath of Black Lives Matter protests across Los Angeles is working to clean up the mess and vandalism.
âWe wanted to help out however we could,â Smith said.
In the center of the hustle and bustle of West Hollywood (WEHO) the temporary restaurant began seating customers in the restaurant itself on June 18th after weeks of delivery only service.

The Moobyâs pop-up is the brainchild of Derek Berry who has brought other fictional restaurants into reality including a pop-up for âLos Pollos Hermanosâ (back in 2019) the restaurant from cable TV series âBreaking Badâ.
You had to get tickets that cost $30 dollars each just to get into Moobyâs but the lucky few who got the chance received an immersive view askew universe tour around many of Kevin Smithâs most legendary film props like the âI Assure You Weâre Openâ sign from the original clerks written in shoe polish thanks to vandals jamming gum in the window shutter locks.
You can see Rosario Dawson, Jason Mewes, and Kevin Smith posing in front of the âI Assure You We Are Openâ sign used in the original âClerksâ in Smithâs Instagram post bellow.
Or the original Moobyâs menu from âDogmaâ complete with the absurd âCowtipperâ burger; the four stacked patty burger monstrosity that is a humorous lambasting of the products fast food companies are always trying to top each other within the real world.

You could however get a triple âCowtipperâ at the pop-up beside the âEgga Mooby Muffinâ built with Beyond Meatâs Beyond Sausage and JUSTâs Vegan Egg or the previously mentioned lasagna sandwich.
All meals came with a side of âOnion Rings To Rule Them Allâ or the âHater Totzâ which Kevin Smith said were his favorite menu item.

Credit also needs to go to the chef behind âSecret Lasagnaâ Chef Royce Burke was the man behind the development of the vegan Moobyâs menu.
Now with the pop-up closed, Derek Berry pitched another idea to Smith that would involve teaming up with digital food marketplace GoldBelly to deliver Moobyâs meal kits to fans throughout the continental United States.
Smith was elated at the idea saying in an interview:
âDerek, who created the Moobyâs Pop Up, had a great idea, and he teamed up the good folks at GoldBelly to be able to provide movie meals everywhere, That means if youâre in New Jersey and you want to order a Moobyâs meal, you can do it.â

The Mooby meal kits that are now available on GoldenBelly at $79 dollars each and contain enough delicious vegan food to feed six people or a couple of very hungry vegans.
Each kit features six Beyond Burger-based vegan âCowtipperâ burgers, multiple sides of vegan chocolate-drenched pretzels, four Moobyâs branded cups, a Kevin Smith download card, four pretzel bags, and a special Moobyâs Meal gift.
Smith famously went vegan / plant-based back in 2018 at the age of 47 after surviving a nearly fatal heart attack often referred to as a âwidow-makerâ due to the low probability of survival.

His vegan and animal rights supporting daughter Harley Quinn Smith (named after the DC Comics villain The Jokerâs sidekick) helped him go vegan and even posed with him in the famous Doomies vegan restaurant in Los Angeles as he began his new journey.
While Moobyâs in his films is not vegan it was important to Smith that the pop-up and in turn the new meal kits had vegan options reflecting his vegan journey and newfound lifestyle.
Smith who is clearly thinner now than before his heart attack is much healthier in both body and mind.
His transition and journey show what a plant-based diet can do for someone who previously treated their body as if it didnât matter.
His heart is physically healthier but also spiritually healthier both for himself and for the animals as heâs said in an exclusive Mercy For Animals interview:
âItâs good for the animals. Itâs good for the planet. Itâs true. But itâs also good for you. Going vegan will save your life.â Smith told Mercy For Animals in an interview you can watch below.
He and daughter Harley have also worked with Gene Baurâs Farm Sanctuary to get people to adopt a turkey at one of their sanctuaries for thanksgiving in 2019 as well as starting a vegan podcast called âVegan Abattoirâ where Kevin Smith said about the duo:
âThe Kid and I intend to slaughter misinformation and butcher bullsh*t about being veganâ said Smith
Now excuse me while I go and order the vegan Mooby meal kit so that I can both enjoy it and review it for you all on the Vegan News Instagram Here. Plus letâs be real, I want those Moobyâs cups in my life.
