Merrimack, N.H. â As Budweiserâs Biergarten welcomes St. Patrickâs Day revelers on Friday, a mobile message from PETA will circle the spot as part of the groupâs campaign calling on Budweiser to stop mutilating horses by amputating their tailbones. As recently revealed in a damning PETA video exposĂ©, Budweiser severs horsesâ tailbones by using a scalpel or a tight band that stops the blood supply to the tail, causing it to die and fall offâall so the Clydesdales will look a certain way when hitched to the beer wagon.
When: Friday, March 17, 1 p.m.
Where: 221 Daniel Webster Hwy., Merrimack
âHorses need their tailbones, and cutting them off causes immense pain, affects their balance, and removes their first line of defense against biting and disease-spreading insects,â says PETA Senior Vice President Kathy Guillermo. âPETA is urging everyone to boycott Budweiser until the King of Tears stops disfiguring the Clydesdales.â
PETAâwhose motto reads, in part, that âanimals are not ours to use for entertainmentââopposes speciesism, a human-supremacist worldview.
