The Gangster Vegan team just opened a vegan smoothie stall at DC’s Western Market food hall. The new walk-up vendor, Rawish, features an all-vegan, soy-free, and mostly raw menu.

DC’s High-Profile Food Hall, Western Market

The high-profile food hall, Western Market, opened in an early-19th-century market building in the Foggy Bottom neighborhood of Washington, DC last month. With plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, easy QR code ordering, and a wide variety of food vendors, this new food hub is a great destination for local foodies.

Black-Owned Vegan Smoothie Vendor, Rawish

One of the first vendors to debut at Western Market is the Black-Owned vegan smoothie vendor, Rawish. Rawish was founded by husband-and-wife duo, James and Taneea Yarborough. The couple also owns Gangster Vegan which now has two locations in Maryland—one in Baltimore, the other in Riverdale Park. The Yarboroughs focused the Rawish menu on smoothies and smoothie bowls that are great for George Washington University students and business people needing a quick, nutritious lunch or snack. As a two-time cancer survivor and previous patient at George Washington University Hospital, Taneea Yarborough expressed a need for more healthy options at nearby restaurants.

The Menu at Rawish

The menu at Rawish revolves primarily around smoothies and smoothie bowls with cold-pressed juices, wellness shots, toasts, salads, and rice bowls available as well. Everything is vegan, soy-free, and mostly raw. From sweeter options like the Green Goddess Smoothie Bowl, Blue Coco Smoothie, and Peanut Butter Cream Pie to savory items such as the Mexi-Buddha Bowl and Toona Greens Salad, there’s something for every craving and time of day!

Visit Rawish at Western Market in Foggy Bottom

From 11am to 6pm, you can visit Rawish at Western Market in Foggy Bottom (2000 Pennsylvania Avenue NW #3500, Washington, DC 20006). The Yarboroughs have already signed a lease for a second location in Northeast DC that will be announced soon.
