College Station, Texas â Please see the following statement from PETA Senior Vice President Kathy Guillermo regarding the news that a Texas A&M University equine veterinarian was indicted on a cruelty-to-animals charge:
Something is rotten at Texas A&M Universityâs veterinary school. PETA exposed Texas A&Mâs canine muscular dystrophy experiments, and the vet school refuses to release nine perfectly healthy dogs it no longer uses, even though PETA has offered to take them all and place them in loving homes. Now, one of the schoolâs veterinarians has been indicted for electroshocking a horse. President M. Katherine Banks should clean house, release the dogs, and fire those responsible for imprisoning and abusing animals.
PETAâwhose motto reads, in part, that âanimals are not ours to experiment onââopposes speciesism, a human-supremacist worldview. For more information on PETAâs newsgathering and reporting, please visit PETA.org or follow the group on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram.
