Providence, R.I. – While pretending to order foie gras, a PETA supporter will endure a “force-feeding” of grain down their throat from a fancy but nefarious waiter on Thursday. The action is part of the group’s push for Rhode Island to pass the Force-Fed Poultry Products Act, which would ban sales of this “delicacy of despair” and prevent tubes from being rammed down the throats of birds.

When:    Thursday, September 23, 12 noon

Where:    At the intersection of Dorrance and Washington streets, Providence

“Selling diseased livers from force-fed birds is appalling and unjustifiable,” says PETA President Ingrid Newkirk. “PETA insists that Rhode Island follow the example set by California, New York City, and over a dozen countries, which have banned foie gras production.”

PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to eat”—opposes speciesism, a human-supremacist worldview.
