Unity Diner proprietor, Earthling Ed, and his business partner Kevyn, are opening a chain of vegan fish and chip shops with the aim to disrupt the UKâs fish industry.
The chain, named The No Catch Co., has plans to open across the UK, starting with Brighton from the 9th October.
The No Catch Co.âs premier store will open its doors at 2pm on Saturday 9th October, and will offer free fish and chips to the first 100 customers.
Announcing the launch on Facebook, Earthling Ed encouraged fans to bring along their non-vegan friends to try the plant-based offerings too.
The No Catch Co. Menu
In addition to Unity Dinerâs signature Tofish and Chips, The No Catch Co. will also serve vegan smoked haddock, prawns, and calamari.
The menu also features non-fishy faves like âChikkenâ drumsticks and battered sausage, along with all the chip shop sides a customer could want.
Thereâs even a choice of tasty desserts for after.
The No Catch Co. Mission
An alarming 380 million portions of fish and chips are sold each year in the UK.
Meaning that hundreds of millions of fish are killed every year, just for the fish & chips shop industry in the UK alone.
The No Catch Co. has stated: âOur mission is to take on the fish and chip shop industry. Because itâs time to stop emptying the oceans â and itâs time to stop killing fish.â
The launch of the new chain was bolstered by the popularity of the tofish dish at the Unity Diner restaurant, which became so successful it led to the founders taking a food truck on the road to feed non-vegans, who were amazed by the product.
In a statement on the No Catch Co.âs website, the chain state: âWe created The No Catch Co., to give people the taste and experience of eating seafood, but without the immense environmental damage and horrendous suffering and death that comes with eating fish. We want to see a future where the oceans, and all the life contained within them, are treated with the respect that they deserve.â
