A conference in Florida is planning to celebrate reprehensible monkey experimenter Elisabeth Murray by giving her the prestigious honor of delivering the keynote address at its annual meeting.
But subjecting intelligent and sensitive monkeys to cruel, deadly, and worthless experiments that have cost taxpayers nearly $52 million over 40 years is nothing to celebrate. Please join PETA in calling on the conference organizers to oust Murray from their meeting.
In National Institutes of Health (NIH) intramural laboratories, Murray has subjected hundreds of monkeys to unspeakable horrors. She carves into their skulls, injects toxins into their brains, suctions out parts of their brains, and implants head posts. She withholds food and water to force their cooperation in absurd tests, blasts air into their eyes, and keeps them restrained for agonizingly long periods of time.
These vulnerable animals are left alone in cages for years, even decades, only to be killed or subjected to further torment once Murray has used them up.
This is an urgent call to action. We must demand that the organizers of the Florida Consortium on the Neurobiology of Cognition revoke their invitation to Murray and remove her from the keynote speaker slot at their upcoming event.
