Up for Grabs! PETA to Give Out 5,000 Vegan Candy Bars at Jackalope

Norfolk, Va. – As locals gather for the action sport festival Jackalope this weekend, PETA daredevils and giant bouncy “babies” will arrive with a different sort of action in mind: handing out 5,000 dairy-free Vego chocolate bars. The delicious giveaway is PETA’s way of highlighting today’s many delicious vegan foods—which are better for the planet and don’t involve separating calves from their mothers so that cow’s milk can be sold to humans.

When: Sunday, June 4, 12 noon

Where: Neptune’s Park, 3001 Atlantic Ave., Virginia Beach

“Showing a little kindness to cows is a whole lot easier than zipping a motocross bike through sand or skating a half-pipe,” says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. “PETA urges everyone to ditch dairy and opt for delicious vegan desserts, cheeses, milks, and other foods that leave animals in peace.”

PETA will hand out a total of 10,000 Vego chocolate bars at festivals in Virginia Beach and Philadelphia this weekend.

PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to eat” and which opposes speciesism, a human-supremacist worldview—offers a free vegan starter kit on its website.
