The classic Coney Island hot dog is going vegan! Mercy For Animals recently worked with Nathanâs Famousâa prominent East Coast hot dog companyâto launch their very first vegan hot dogs. The companyâs gourmet hot dog features a pea-protein sausage created in collaboration with Meatless Farm and seasoned with Nathanâs signature spice blend.
Nathanâs Famous has been selling hot dogs on Coney Island to locals and vacationers alike for over 100 years, but this is the first time the company has featured plant-based hot dogs. In a statement, Senior Vice President of Restaurants James Walker said:
Plant-based menu items continue to grow in popularity, and we are excited to launch the first ever gourmet, plant-based hot dog. We created this product, with Meatless Farm, not just for our flexitarian, vegetarian, and vegan customers, but for all who enjoy a healthier diet!
Hungry customers all over the country can order a 12-pack of these mouthwatering hot dogs today. You will also find them at Nathanâs Famous restaurants later this summer. Walker went on to say:
Weâve spent a great deal of time perfecting this hot dog and making sure that those who know and love Nathanâs one-of-a-kind flavor, as well as those that might not have tried a Nathanâs hot dog due to diet, can now enjoy an option that fits their lifestyle.
We at Mercy For Animals are so proud to have worked with this iconic company to bring about this momentous new item. To celebrate, we launched an ultimate summer giveaway of 50 hot dogs and a Mercy For Animalsâdesigned picnic set. Click here to enter!
